Diego Garcia

Diego Garcia is a partner at Bain & Company in the Buenos Aires office. He joined Bain in 2007 and has more than 11 years of experience in management consulting. He leads Bain’s Oil & Gas practice in Argentina and the Southern Cone and co-leads the Refining sub-practice globally.

Diego has worked with the top management of large national and multinational groups in several industries such as oil & gas, metals & mining, power generation and utilities in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Peru. He also has worked with the organizations in the public sector as well as public companies in Argentina, Brazil and Colombia, addressing issues related to the oil & gas and mining industries.

Diego has a strong experience along the oil & gas value chain – from onshore and offshore upstream to midstream and downstream – addressing diverse topics such as corporate and business unit strategy, performance improvement, organizational redesign and transformation, process redesign, regulation and fiscal term, investment attraction plans, JV and project structuring, procurement and supply chain.

Diego areas of expertise includes refining full potential, development of unconventional resources, and natural gas markets. He co-authored diverse Bain publications including Full Potential Oil Refining in a Challenging Environment, one of Bain’s latest point of views on the challenges of the sector.

His perspectives on the oil & gas industry have been quoted in the Oil & Gas Journal and the Petroleum Review of the Energy Institute, as well as in the local media, including El Cronista, La Nación and Energía & Negocios, among other.

Prior to joining Bain, he worked in the oil & gas industry with ExxonMobil and the Techint Group, with strong exposure to the upstream and downstream Latin American and Middle East markets.

He graduated with honors in Mechanical Engineering from the Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires (Argentina).

He has dual Argentinean and Slovenian citizenship, and he is fluent in Spanish, English, Portuguese and Slovenian.
